Karen Carpenter’s voice was one of a kind, 16 hits in just five years of “pleasing to the ears” great music, arranged by her brother Richard. There is an enduring quality to their songs. It was something in Karen’s voice, something that went deeper than words. She had the rare ability to transition from that more typical female register to a much lower range—something she called her “basement.” Very few singers can duplicate that sound, Yelba’s strong Alto register will take you there!
